All of the best children’s stories whether they are books or movies look at common aspects of the human condition like friendship, family, sacrifice, love, right/wrong/gray areas, and death in new and creative ways. However, in children’s stories the writers are given the freedom of being more fantastical than is usually granted in other genres.
This fantastical nature of children’s stories is something I have always loved. I feel like these stories can be really freeing. For example, they can allow adults to explore everyday problems in a more creative fantastical way and can give creativity a sense of value. This is why I love children’s books and movies. I love the fun and creative ways universal conditions can be dealt with and all the different and interesting stories that result from such creativity and freedom.
I believe more adults could benefit from watching and reading great children’s stories.
